Monett Middle School Wrestling team started their season off with a split. They defeated Neosho 8 matches to 7 but came up short to Cassville by a score of 6 to 7. Wrestler of the night was Karey Anderson who picked up two wins by fall on the evening. Isaac Lindsey picked up his first win of the season with a 5-3 overtime victory. Down by a point late in the 3rd period, Lindsey managed an escape to force an overtime, where he secured a win with a takedown in extra time. Others picking up victories for Monett were: Kris Cloud and Corbin McCully with 2 wins each, Ty McCully, Matthew Burdett, Macey Flynt, Ethan Umfleet, Daven Madrid, Fernando Martinez, and Harrison Merriman. The next home dual for the Cubs will be next Tuesday when the Bulldogs of Carl Junction travel to Monett.
