I am very proud of the way we competed at the Big 8 conference meet. I know the kids had high expectations for themselves and ran very well. I know Julio had high aspirations coming into this season. One of his goals this season was to finish in the top 15 and medal at conference. He always runs hard and pushes himself from start to finish. I do not know how many coaches have told me this season that they love to watch him run. He runs with his heart. I was happy to see him achieve this goal. Jose was ranked to finish in 14th place at the conference meet and finished in 8th place. He ran a fantastic race and passed another run just as he crossed the finish line. He has been with our program since middle school and it was great to see him seal the deal and finish all conference his senior year. Ian and Ethan have both been working hard all year and improving weekly. I was happy to see them run good times yesterday. On the girls side, Abby Jastal was our top finisher in 19th place with a new personal record of 23:09. Abby and Sadie usually run together for most of the race and just fight it out at the end. Our girls finished well yesterday and we are getting better at closing gaps between teammates. Jenn and Kaia had a season best time yesterday which shows the hard work they have been putting in at practice. We will run this course one more time this season, Oct.. 31st as Nixa hosts the Class 4 District 6. We will have some tough competition with Carl Junction, Harrisonville, Logan-Rogersville, McDonald County, Neosho, Nevada, and Webb City competing in our district. The top 15 individuals will advance to state at Gans Creek in Columbia on Nov. 6th.
